Dolores teaches burlesque under ‘ Dolores Daiquiri Academy of Burlesque’ to hundreds of students each year and is excited to be bringing her experience and knowledge to the Burlesque Cruise in 2018. Dolores loves to teach classic, traditional burlesque but can equally teach comedy and a more modern style of burlesque. Her classes are fun and exciting! Jazida is a Canberra based entertainer, producer and teacher creating with joyous abandon in the art of Burlesque. 21st Century Burlesque says “I will not forget her any time soon”.
With a performance style defined by cheekiness, character and creativity and with a specialty for fan dancing, Jazida has won the hearts of the audiences and judges and has won multiple awards including Miss Burlesque ACT 2016, Baby Bombshells as part of the 2016 Australian Burlesque Festival, Burlesque Idol Canberra 2015 and more.
Jazida has become recognised as one of Canberra’s premiere burlesque performers, was accepted to perform at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, and is no one-trick pony! As well as being a performer, she teaches weekly classes and also runs workshops across Australia. She is also the founder of #JazidaPoductions and works to run regular productions and facilitate professional development opportunities for local alternate performing artists. In addition to this, per passion for burlesque has seen her become a member of the Australian Burlesque Museum working to document the revival of Neo-Burlesque in the ACT and surrounding regions.
Her flair for theatrics is combined with technical versatility, allowing Jazida to incorporate a range of aesthetics into her acts. This versatility stems from her background in belly dancing where she debuted on stage in 2009 soon becoming a seasoned belly dancer in Turkish restaurants across Canberra. In a push to find more avenues for creative expression and develop her repertoire further, Jazida leapt into the world of burlesque. Captivated by the striptease and fun flavour of burlesque performance, Jazida knew this was an art form she could really get creative with.
Lyra la Belle
‘The Bombshell Blonde Who Puts the Thunder in Down Under' Lyra la Belle is an internationally recognised burlesque performer and titleholder. An LA girl at heart after six years performing in the City of Angels, Lyra is an accepted member of the LA burlesque community – her cheeky style perfected while performing alongside American burlesque stars and training with Vegas Burlesque Legends.
Lyra has toured internationally and performed in festivals around the world including Viva Las Vegas, Vegas Burlesque Festival, Arizona Burlesque Festival, California Burlypicks, Hollywood Burlesque Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Australian Burlesque Festival. In her most recent competition, Lyra won the coveted title of Miss Hollywood Burlesque Starlet 2015, while 16 months pregnant with her daughter!
Moving back to Adelaide in 2016 to bring up her mini, Lyra saw a gap in the market for her ‘Hollywood-Style’ grind and began producing Hot Sauce Burlesque with her cabaret pal Boo Dwyer to five-star reviews and sold out crowds. Hot Sauce Burlesque School started soon after and Lyra has been empowering her army of ‘Hotties’ ever since.
Described as “a Roald Dahl character brought to life,” Veruca is the burlesque potato who has gained a reputation for her scientifically improbable facial contortions. Known for her theatrical and comedic acts, this cabaret deep sea fish will give you a funny feeling in your elbows with her madcap brand of exuberant and grotesque hijinkx.
Winner of Miss Burlesque Western Australia 2017, Veruca has performed all over Australia and Singapore as a part of The Australian Burlesque Festival, The Perth International Burlesque Festival, The Bombshell Burlesque Showgirl Exchange and The Fringe World Festival. She teaches and performs with Perth’s premier neo-cabaret troupe Sugar Blue Burlesque, is co-producer and media manager for the award winning queer collective BurLEZque, and co-directed the acclaimed (and very serious) La Potato Cabaret.
Veruca’s background in musical theatre and pantomime lends a vaudevillian sensibility to her performance and teaching style. With a focus on the hilarious with a dash of the absurd, she encourages her students to embrace their individuality and harness the power of FACE!
